Ebb Tide
Heard the expression, “You can’t take it with you.”? Of course, it refers to having to leave behind whatever wealth, property or treasure you have accumulated when you die. Yet, we do take our greatest treasure with us. That treasure is the knowledge, experiences and wisdom (even if it is only a little) we have acquired over our life times. Unless this treasure is left in some form for others to gain from it, it is lost. Our children and grand children get on with their lives and memories fade as the tide ebbs out from the shore.
In stories, verse and journal entries, I hope to leave behind my treasure. I will also be cross-posting works of other fine talents here on substack. There is much to be mined from the veins of precious wisdom running throughout the platform.
Wishing “good tidings” to all.
This is and always has been the only reason I've ever wanted to write anything. We don't even know if what we have to share is "worth" anything, but there's just this nagging "it'd be a shame if some of it was". I used to think it was a desperate grasp at some form of immortality, but that's not it, because honestly I would rather say everything I have to say anonymously to prevent future readers from discarding any worth based upon my personal characteristics or life experiences. But hey, here I am, finally discarding all aliases and no longer giving a fuck what anyone in my pre-existing circles might think. Come what may.
